Here Are Some Great Tips For Your Golf Game

There’s no difference whether you just started playing golf yesterday or if you’ve played on the PGA tour. The game of golf holds plenty of challenges and opportunities for any skill level. Before hitting the links, check out the following tips for a little insight to give your game an edge.

Get more from your time on the course by walking it instead of driving. Walking from one hole to another gives you extra exercise, thus supplementing the health benefits of playing golf. Walking will also keep your muscles loose and warmed up, leaving you ready for every shot as you take it.

Make sure that you are holding the club correctly when you are a beginner. Avoid the urge to squeeze the club as tightly as possible when hitting the ball. Instead of doing this, try using a grip which is supple but firm. Hold the club as if you are holding a bird.

When you get ready to swing, check your posture by wiggling your toes. If your feet are easy to move, you’re leaning too far from the ball. You want to lean but not excessively; you want to do it just enough to get a good stroke going.

Be certain to keep a pure mental focus and concentration on your next stroke. Don’t carry with you the mental weight of your last shot, regardless of its success or failure; nor should you get distracted by the water hazard you are approaching. Stressing over bad shots has been the downfall of many players, so learn to let go.

Place your left hand ahead when you address the ball while putting. Keep this position during your stroke to maintain proper form. This technique will give you a smooth stroke instead of striking the ball too hard.

Long putts require fast swings. Hit the ball as quickly as possible to propel it forward the greatest distance. As opposed to aiming at the hole, look at the putt and shoot for a target. That way, you are less likely to either overshoot or undershoot, and your second putt is more likely to be a manageable one.

It’s extremely important to understand how to correctly score a golf game. When you know how to keep score you aren’t judged as a bad player, it is something that shouldn’t be overlooked. Count each time you hit the ball, call it a stroke, and add the times it takes to get it in the hole! Unlike most sports, a lower score is better!

Take a small snack rich in proteins with you, such as nuts for instance. Not only will golf tax you physically, but it is also mentally draining as well. Your healthy snack will ensure your energy levels are high and your mind at full capacity, allowing you to beat back fatigue as you get through those 18 holes.

Now that you have taken the initiative to learn something new about the sport of golf, you can impress your golfing buddies (or that gorgeous pro shop attendant) with the information you’ve just picked up. Look for new ways to apply these skills to your current game, to make the game even more challenging and engaging.
