When you swing a golf club, put your whole body into it. Utilize your core as well as your arms to generate strength. Your body should be fully involved in moving the club. This will reduce strain on your arms and increase driving distance.

One of the first things you need to learn about golf is proper club grip. New golfers often mistakenly grip the club tightly in hopes they will be able to hit the ball harder. However, you can get more distance by have a firm but soft grip. Hold the club with a very delicate grip, as if you were holding a baby bird or a child.

Wiggling your toes just before your stroke is a good indicator of your readiness for a good swing. Your feet should have restricted movement to ensure you are leaning properly. You should be able to lean toward the ball, with your feet able to move just a small amount. If your feet move too much, you are not doing it correctly.

You should put all of your attention on the next shot. Whether you have been hitting well or poorly so far doesn’t matter – you’re only as good as your next shot. Worrying about previous mistakes will mess up your swing, so move on.

When getting ready to putt, look down and make sure your left hand is set a little forward of the ball before you strike it. Maintain this position as you follow through with your swing. This will minimize the chance the ball will skip off the face of your club at impact, and makes it easier to maintain control of your stroke.

Be sure to drink enough water and stretch properly just like you would during any other sport. As with any sport, better physical conditioning can lead to better performance.

To get a strong swing going, you have to use all of your muscles, particularly your trunk and legs. You should draw great power through your legs as you whip your body while you swing through.

Take a small snack rich in proteins with you, such as nuts for instance. Golf can make one both mentally and physically tired. When you eat a good snack all of that protein can keep your body and mind energized and free from fatigue so that you can concentrate on your game.
